Individuals with disabilities have access to federal and state funded VR services in communities nationwide. Agencies providing this service are administered on the state level and have branches located throughout each state. VR counselors at each branch offer services including career planning, job placement assistance, assistive and adaptive technology and financial assistance with school tuition. Branches also provide support and/or financial assistance to entrepreneurs planning to start a business. It is helpful to review your state VR organization’s policy regarding self-employment to better understand the organization’s role and parameters in assisting individuals with starting a business.
